Kuwait Relaunches eVisa Platform for GCC Expatriates—Here’s What You Need to Know

Expanded Access for Gulf-Based Expats

Kuwait has reopened its upgraded online visa portal, allowing GCC expatriates, including those living in the UAE, to apply for a Kuwait eVisa or select “visa on arrival” based on their professional titles. The service, which was paused in December 2024 for technical upgrades, is now fully functional again.

Eligible Professions and Emirates ID Verification

Expats holding roles such as doctor, engineer, pharmacist, journalist, business executive, pilot, and others listed on Kuwait’s platform can apply. UAE residents must ensure their Emirates ID profession matches one of the accepted titles to qualify for the streamlined visa option.

Required Documents Simplified

To apply, applicants need a passport valid for at least six months, a recent photo, round-trip flight confirmation, and proof of accommodation in Kuwait. UAE-based applicants must also hold a valid Emirates ID with a minimum of six months’ validity.

1. How to Apply Through the eVisa Portal

2. Visit kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw and choose the “tourist” visa category.

3. Select your GCC residence country and check eligibility.

4. Create an account with your name, email, and mobile number, then verify via OTP.

5. Upload passport copy, ID, photo, and residency details.

6. Pay the eVisa fee (approximately 3KWD AED35.74) and submit your application.

7. Track your application online; status updates will be emailed.

Validity Period and Stay Duration

The Kuwait eVisa is valid for 30 days from issue, and allows a stay of up to 90 days from entry. Visa fees vary slightly depending on nationality but generally hover around 3 KWD.

Visa-on-Arrival Eligibility and Alternatives

Citizens of 50+ countries—such as Australia, Canada, UK, EU nations, and others—can obtain a visa on arrival in Kuwait. Those not qualifying for eVisa or on-arrival visas must apply via Kuwaiti embassies for visit or business visas, which require sponsorship or invitation letters.
